A list gathers people who agreed to receive the same kind of e-mail. Each list has its own subscribers, tags, segments, imports and exports, and settings.

Create a list

Contacts → New list. The panel asks for:
  • the name, seen by the team and by the subscribers (the header of the public pages, the confirmation e-mails);
  • the language of the list, among every language there is: it is the language of the pages and e-mails its subscribers see, unless they chose another one;
  • the sender (address and name), optional: left empty, the values from Settings → General are used;
  • double opt-in.
The Contacts page shows each list as a card: how many subscribers, how many new this week, a curve of subscriptions over twelve weeks, the rate of people leaving, and the date of the last campaign.

A list’s settings

The Settings tab of a list. Each section is saved with the button in the bottom bar, which says when there is nothing to save.

List

The list’s name and language.

Sender

Address, name and reply-to address. Leave them empty to use the application’s defaults.

Subscription

boolean
When it is on, a new person receives an e-mail with a confirmation link and stays unconfirmed until they click it. It is the best protection against fake addresses and malicious subscriptions, and the strongest proof of consent.
text
Write your own. The content must carry {{ confirm_url }}. Left empty, Lekalao sends a plain e-mail in the subscriber’s language.
boolean, subject and content
Sent as soon as the subscription counts (straight away, or after confirmation). For a real welcome series, prefer an automation.
The variables you may use are listed under the editor: see Personalisation.
Subscribers who never confirm are deleted automatically after the delay set in Settings → General → Contacts. Left empty, they are kept.

Subscription form

Lets a form on your site subscribe people to this list, with the allowed domains, the redirects after subscribing, confirming and unsubscribing, and a form ready to copy. See Subscription forms. In the same section, Publish an archive of the campaigns puts the campaigns you sent on a web page and an RSS feed, with the address to copy. See Public pages.

Weekly summary

Every Monday at 8:00, a short e-mail to the recipients you name (one per line): the new subscribers and the departures of the week.

Sending hours

A window (8:00 to 20:00, say) in a time zone you choose. Campaigns meant for this list wait for the window to open again before going out. A window that crosses midnight (20:00 to 6:00) works too.

Delete a list

At the bottom of the settings, Delete the list. Deleting it takes every subscriber with it, along with its tags, segments, imports and exports. It cannot be undone: export first if you want to keep a copy.
