Subscription confirmation
The{{ confirm_url }} link of the confirmation e-mail leads to a page that confirms the subscription and offers to manage preferences. If the list has a “redirect after subscribing”, the person is sent there. A confirmation link opened after an unsubscribe says that it has expired.
Unsubscribing
The{{ unsubscribe_url }} link opens a page that asks for a confirmation: one click on the link does not unsubscribe anyone, so that antivirus software opening the links of e-mails unsubscribes nobody by accident.
The page offers, without insisting, to say why:
The reason and the comment appear on the subscriber’s record.
One-click unsubscribe
Every campaign and every automation e-mail carries theList-Unsubscribe and List-Unsubscribe-Post headers. Gmail, Yahoo and Apple Mail then show their own “Unsubscribe” button next to the sender, which unsubscribes without opening a page. Gmail and Yahoo require it for bulk sending.
Unsubscribing from one subject
A preference tag has an unsubscribe link of its own: the person loses that tag and stays subscribed to the list.Preferences
The{{ preferences_url }} link opens the My preferences page, where the person can:
- correct their first name and last name;
- choose the language of their e-mails;
- tick or untick the subjects (preference tags);
- unsubscribe from the whole list, or subscribe again.
Web version
{{ webview_url }} opens the e-mail in the browser, as the subscriber received it, personalised.
The public archive
Switched on with Publish an archive of the campaigns in the list’s settings (the Subscription form section), the archive shows the campaigns you sent, at:/archive/{the-list-id}/feed. Each entry opens the web version of the campaign, without personalisation. Handy for a “Past issues” link on your site.
